It cleans the dishes, glasses and even pots are no problem: The dishwasher is one of the most important cleaning tools in the kitchen. But how does a dishwasher work?
How does a dishwasher work? Pre-rinse
At first fresh water enters the dishwasher from below and is decalcified by dishwasher salt.
The up to 50 degrees heated water is pushed by a pump into the rotary arms, which are usually located at the bottom and in the middle. Water pressure sets the rotary arms in motion. The water jet from the spray arms removes the coarse residue of crockery and cutlery. The dirty water flows back to the dishwasher bottom and seeps through a coarse and a fine sieve.
The purified water is now fed back to the rinse cycle. The dirt collects in a container and is pumped between the individual rinsing processes by the circulating pump into the sewage system.
How does a dishwasher work? Dishwashing detergent
With the next step the dishwashing liquid flap opens and the detergent reaches the heated rinse water and dissolves. How warm the water gets depends on the chosen program. The water with the detergent is now passed again into the rotary arm propeller and the process just described is repeated. After about half an hour, the rinse water flows off completely and it follows clear water.
Note! Sometimes the detergent does not dissolve due to less temperature, so we do not recommend to run “Low Temperature Eco Programs”
